What to bring on a boat trip? Everything you need to enjoy the sea

Jul 3, 2025 | Noticias

A day at sea means relaxation, fun, and a break from routine. But to make the most of it, it’s important to be prepared. At On Boats Rental, we’ve created a checklist of must-haves for your next boat trip, whether it’s your first time or you’re already a sea lover.

Sun and wind protection

The sun can be intense out on the water. Don’t forget:

  • Water-resistant sunscreen (and reapply every 2 hours!)

  • Sunglasses with UV protection

  • A cap or visor

  • Lightweight long-sleeved shirt or rash guard

A light windbreaker is also a great idea—weather can change quickly on the water.

Proper clothing and footwear

Avoid heavy clothes or anything that takes too long to dry. Go for comfortable, quick-dry clothing, and don’t forget your swimsuit. The best footwear? Non-slip sandals or boat shoes.

Pack a dry change of clothes for the end of the day, too.

Hydration and snacks

You may not feel thirsty, but the sun and sea breeze can dehydrate you. Bring plenty of water, isotonic drinks, and light snacks like fruit, nuts, or sandwiches.

For longer outings, a portable cooler with cold meals is a great option.

Tech and fun

Bring a fully charged phone—preferably in a waterproof case—and consider a waterproof camera or Bluetooth speaker. Just remember to respect the environment and others on board.

If kids are coming, pack games, goggles, or swim fins.

Safety first

On Boats Rental provides all required safety equipment, but we recommend:

  • Dry bags for phones and documents

  • Any personal medication you may need

  • A small first-aid kit
